On April 27,2019, the national geothermal energy center alongside other chinese institutions formed a bid consortium, a Jointly bid for the 2023 world geothermal conference. On November 28, 2019, this team went to Auckland, New Zealand to make a competitive defense, which stood among the US, Russia, Italy, Hungary and other countries, and finally won the right to host the 2023 conference.
